Falling down is part of life. Getting back up is living.
I don’t mean to sound negative with this Blog’s title, “When you fall down”. I don’t think it’s possible to go through life and not fall in one way or another. This can be physical, mental, relational or professionally, to name a few. Falling usually hurts and can often leave a mark of some sort and perhaps a slice of embarrassment. Whether it’s a bruise, scar, memory or an event that could change your life as we know it. Each mark tells a story and holds its fair share of pain.
How often have we fallen over and quickly get back up, hoping that no one has seen us? I have done this if I wasn’t in too much pain. So why do we do this? Why do we care more about people’s opinions than the fact we have just fallen over and have more than likely hurt ourselves! Why do we get embarrassed when life knocks the wind out of our sails every now and again?
Each time we fall, a choice needs to be made to get up back up instead of choosing to live in that space or frame of mind. For myself, it has taught me to see life from a different perspective and how I need others in my corner. I am so thankful for the people who came alongside me and cheered me on to get back up.
One of my favourite motivational speakers, Les Brown, quoted, “If you fall, fall on your back. If you can look up, you can get up”. If you have fallen down, it’s not too late to get back up and have another go. You only fail when you give up on yourself! If you need some time to regather yourself, take it, if you need to take small steps forward, make them and if you need the support of others to ask for it. I would love to hear from you and how you have gotten back up in life. Until next time. C
